Gun Control Doesn't Work ❌ Here’s Why

On August 9, a 17-year-old opened fire in Times Square, a heavily policed area declared a “gun-free zone,” injuring three people — an 18-year-old female, a 19-year-old male, and a 65-year-old male. All three are in stable condition in the hospital. The shooting followed a verbal altercation with one of the victims. The suspect was taken into custody and police recovered a firearm. Despite all the laws and signs, violence still found a way.

We're told that “gun-free zones” like Times Square will make us safer. But what actually happens is they disarm law-abiding citizens while criminals ignore the rules.

Criminals don’t follow gun laws.

Restricting guns only impacts those who obey the law, not those who intend harm.

This shooting is the latest proof that “gun control” creates targets, not safety. Attackers know they face less resistance in places where guns are banned.

The media often focuses on these incidents without questioning the role stricter laws play in increasing violence.

The truth is, gun control policies have repeatedly failed to prevent shootings. For example, after the National Firearms Act of 1934 imposed heavy regulations on certain firearms, gun-related crime did not decline as intended; in some areas, violent crime rates actually increased.

Meanwhile, studies estimate that firearms are used in self-defense between 500,000 to 3 million times annually in the United States, with most of those stopped without a shot fired. Armed citizens regularly stop crimes and save lives, examples you rarely see on the nightly news.

Self-defense works, but is regularly ignored by politicians and the media.

If we want safer communities, we need to empower people with the right to protect themselves, not take those rights away under the illusion of safety.

That’s why Black Guns Matter exists to promote responsible gun ownership, safety training, 2A education, and personal empowerment.

When you support BGM, you’re helping fund free firearm safety and 2A education in communities that need this message the most.
